This academy is designed to promote decent working and living conditions for seafarers and fair competition for shipowners. It trains trainers to build better ship inspection systems worldwide. Participants work in groups to design and run training sessions for their fellow participants. At the end of the academy, participants may choose to take a comprehensive exam. Those who pass receive a certificate from the ILO, which recognizes MLC, 2006 compliance.
