The Future Leaders in the World of Work Summer University fosters the ambitions of mission-driven university students and young professionals to work in support of Global South, South-South and Triangular cooperation initiatives for human-centred development.
The Summer University is implemented in cooperation with ITCILO knowledge partners and in the framework of the Turin School of Development.

The Future Leaders in the World of Work Summer University supports the next generation of leaders supporting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) initiatives. It equips them with the theoretical and practical skills needed to devise systemic and integrated approaches to sustainable development that promote social justice and enhance sustainable development dividends for all.
The Summer University is a training ground for future leaders in the world of work to acquire and hone core competencies for lasting, sustainable impact. It welcomes young leaders seeking to join global governance structures, national, international and non-governmental organizations, the social and solidarity economy, and social enterprises to champion socially sustainable development on a global scale. This training activity is part of the INTEGRŌ curriculum.
The Summer University welcomes undergraduate, graduate students and young professionals (within 5 years of their graduation at the time of application) interested in exploring themes lying at the intersection of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), sustainable development and the world of work.

The Summer University features a face-to-face and an online component.
The ITCILO Campus in Turin, Italy, initially welcomes a global cohort of participants for two weeks (29 July – 9 August) of live plenary, elective, and envisioning sessions on topics at the heart of the work of the ILO.
Participants also have the option to attend a mini-series of online, career-coaching webinars for global professionals following up from the face-to-face component of the course.
In conclusion of the envisioning sessions, participants create consensus around the drafts of policy-oriented “Fundamental Considerations” documents (one per elective course track explored) which will be brought to the attention of key ILO stakeholders in preparation for the Summit of the Future 2024.
Opening remarks: Christophe Perrin, Director of the International Training Centre of the ILO and Director of the Turin School of Development. Mr Perrin is a senior official at the International Labour Organization (ILO), with a 27-year career in this Organization. He has been appointed as Director of the International Training Centre of the ILO as of 1 April 2023. Prior to his appointment, he was Director of the Multilateral Cooperation Department since July 2016; Director of the Official Meetings, Documentation and Relations Department from 2012 to 2016; Chief of the Official Relations Branch from 2010 to 2012 and Senior Advisor for Europe and Central Asia in the Office of the ILO Director-General from 2003 to 2010.
Anita Amorim, Head of the Emerging and Special Partnerships Unit of the ILO since 2008. She currently coordinates and manages the unit, which is located in the partnerships department. Among her current duties she identifies trends and opportunities within the UN system to promote the Decent Work Agenda and the ILO’s Century Initiatives in the framework of South-South and triangular cooperation.
Ambassador Amr Aljowaily is an international civil servant, diplomat, academic, and writer with 32 years of professional experience. He is currently the strategic advisor to the deputy chairperson of the African Union Commission (Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement) in Addis Ababa. As an academic, he is a visiting faculty member at the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Multilateral Diplomacy Program since 2014, and at DiploFoundation since 2007. He was previously a board member of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies (1994–1996) and the American University in Cairo (AU), including the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP).
Professor ZHA Daojiong is professor of international political economy in the School of International Studies, Peking University, where he also directs a Center on Transnational Issues, the research office of the South-South Cooperation and Development, and holds a professorship in the University’s Ocean Research Institute. He specializes in studying non-traditional security issues in China’s foreign relations, with a particular focus on energy, food, and trans-boundary water issues.
Located along the banks of the Po River, the ITCILO Turin Campus allows participants to live and study immersed in nature, in a safe and secure environment conducive to learning, exploring, and discovering what the city of Turin has to offer.

INTEGRŌ is the global competence development facility for future leaders in the world of work of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO). Highlighting the ILO’s contributions in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, INTEGRŌ motivates future leaders to leverage synergies that connect Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) to all of the other Goals for the benefit of their communities of reference. INTEGRŌ offers a wide range of global competence training opportunities which, while being stand-alone, work in synergy with one another for the formulation of a dynamic, integrated curriculum.
