Employers' Activities

The Programme for Employers' Activities provides training and advisory services to strengthen employers’ representatives for economic growth, development, and poverty alleviation.

Our Programme’s mission is to help Employers and Business Member Organizations (EBMOs) worldwide become the representative and effective voice of business contributing to the creation of favourable conditions for sustainable development.

The Programme delivers on its mandate through a range of capacity-building activities such as:

  • Training activities (residential, at distance and blended) for representatives of EBMOs so that they can become stronger partners in economic and social development and better provide services to their members. The Programme delivers approximately 50 training activities per year since 2010.
  • Development of tailor-made materials. It is essential to meet the needs of EBMOs, their specific concerns and to consider how they work. Our training packages, toolkits and other resource packs include guidance materials and hands-on tools and templates, which participants can use in their daily work.
  • Advisory services for EBMOs and development partners in the area of organizational development and policy analysis.
  • We also manage capacity-building projects funded by international donors, on behalf of and in partnership with EBMOs.

The capacity-building activities we deliver have a dual purpose: to optimize the management of EBMOs and to strengthen their ability to influence the political environment and business climate of their countries. Some of the training activities are designed specifically for companies, especially multinationals, with a view to strengthen their capacity in the field of Responsible Business Conduct, particularly with regard to its labour dimension.

Our training activities are structured around 4 building blocks.
