The MoU provides for enhanced cooperation in capacity-building initiatives between the ITCILO and the Morrocan Ministry of Labour, with the aim of:

  • supporting the Moroccan institution in its ambition of transforming its training centre into a regional capacity-building hub;
  • implementing high-quality, relevant training activities that respond to the training needs of key labour institutions in Morocco and the region;
  • fostering a South-South dialogue on labour migration in Africa.

The MoU was made possible by the ITCILO’s increased capacity-building efforts in North Africa within the framework of the SURE project (Fostering the social and professional reintegration of return migrants), funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

With labour migration as its pilot area of expertise, it has the potential to pave the way for increased collaboration with the Ministry of Labour in other areas that fall within the mandate of the ILO.
