In June 2022, the International Labour Conference at its 110th Session adopted the resolution on the inclusion of a "safe and healthy working environment" in the ILO's framework of fundamental principles and rights at work. The fundamental Conventions on occupational safety and health, Convention No. 155 and Convention No. 187, will play a prominent role in the strategy and will guide its implementation, with the aim of assisting constituents to promote, respect and realize the right to a safe and healthy working environment and build a culture of prevention. This course has been designed to support the ratification and implementation of international labour standards on occupational safety and health (OSH), as well as implementation of specific codes of practice and guidelines. It seeks to support the establishment and continual improvement of national OSH frameworks: including the development of policies and programmes, the establishment and strengthening of national occupational safety and health institutions and tripartite bodies, the review and update of the national legislation, the development of recording and notification systems, the formulation of compliance strategies and strengthening the capacities of labour inspectorates, occupational health services, and the integration of OSH concerns in education and vocational training, as well as in national development plans and other national policies and strategies.
