Child labour remains a persistent problem in today's world and a blatant violation of the human rights of millions of boys and girls around the globe. The latest global estimates indicate that 138 million children are working, which represents nearly 8% of all children worldwide. Fifty-four million of these children are engaged in hazardous work that directly endangers their health, safety, and moral and spiritual development.
