International Labour Law and Domestic Law

The publications below are aimed at judges from courts and tribunals that deal with labour litigation, the lawyers who appear before them, the legal advisers to employers’ and workers’ organizations, labour law professors and the trainers responsible for continuing legal education of judges and lawyers. They are used in the ITCILO courses targeting legal practitioners to guide them to explore opportunities for using international labour law in domestic law for the effective and in-depth application of international labour standards (ILS) and to achieve of the objective of decent work Thy are also training tools on the use of international labour law in domestic law.

 

International Labour Law and Domestic Law: A training manual for judges, lawyers and legal educators

This manual examines when and how judges and lawyers can use international labour law. It specifically examines the sources of international labour and the ILS system; the judicial use of international labour law; the content of ILS on specific subjects and their interest for legal practitioners. This last part covers freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, equality of opportunity and treatment in employment and occupation, termination of employment at the initiative of the employer.
