On Friday 16 May 2025, the Turin School of Development (TSD) will open the 2024-2025 Academic Year of the Masters’ Programmes, organized by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), in partnership with the University of Turin and the Politecnico di Torino, and with the support of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

The ceremony will be attended by Christophe Perrin, Director of ITCILO and Director of the Turin School of Development; Stefano Geuna, Rector of the University of Turin; Stefano Corgnati, Rector of the Politecnico di Torino; Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region; Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of the City of Turin; and Jumana Risheq, representing the Masters’ participants.

This year’s ceremony holds a special significance, as it takes place during the ITCILO’s 60th Anniversary celebrations. Under the theme "Learning, Social Justice and Peace", it highlights the Centre’s long-standing commitment to advance social justice through capacity-building and innovation.

In recognition of this milestone, His Excellency Mr. Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, will take part in the ceremony as a guest of honour, underscoring the importance of the Centre’s mission and its impact on the global community.

Over the last few years, the Turin School of Development has consolidated its international reputation through collaboration with UN agencies, prestigious universities, and sustained support from the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo. With seven Masters, 197 participants from 77 countries, and over 3.000 alumni worldwide, the TSD continues to build a vibrant international learning community.

The Academic Day 2025 will not only mark the beginning of the Academic Year but will also serve as a moment to reflect on the School’s enduring role in shaping future leaders. The TSD remains committed to equipping professionals with the skills needed to address the evolving challenges of the world of work, fostering inclusive and sustainable economic and social development, and advancing social justice in line with the programmatic priorities of the ILO and the broader United Nations system.
