Jan Vandemoortele

Jan Vandemoortele holds a PhD in Development Economics and served as economist and diplomat with the United Nations for some 30 years. First he worked for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya and Ethiopia. He then served with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Malawi and New York. He became chief economist of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and later director of UNDP’s Poverty Group, both in New York.
