This course is designed to upgrade the capacities of project staff in planning and executing international competitive bidding operations for the procurement of goods in projects funded by international financial institutions (IFIs). The course gives comprehensive coverage of the whole spectrum of technical, procedural and business competencies needed for the successful conduct of each step of the procurement process (needs identification, market research, procurement planning, risk assessment for the selection of the best contracting strategy, competition/bidding procedures, bid evaluation, contract award and contract management) for goods. Emphasis is placed on analysis of the risks that would influence the choice of the optimal contracting strategy through correct implementation of Project Procurement Strategy for Development.
