Fair wages, safe workplaces, and decent jobs are central to the ILO's mission of advancing social justice. The activity Driving Fair Wages, Safe Work, and Decent Jobs through Dynamic Social Dialogue and Collective Bargaining aims to empower trade unions to lead transformative change in the world of work.

In cooperation with the Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF), this initiative will examine and strengthen the critical role of social dialogue as a foundation for building consensus among workers, employers, and governments in pursuit of equitable and sustainable outcomes. Collective bargaining will highlighted as a dynamic tool for trade unions to secure fair wages, improve occupational safety, and respect fundamental principles and rights at work.

Participants will engage in capacity-building exercises, peer-to-peer learning, and in-depth analysis of macroeconomic and wage policies, productivity, and gain-sharing mechanisms. By exploring the links between wages, productivity growth, and equitable distribution of gains, the cohort of trade union participants will develop innovative strategies to promote fair and sustainable wage-setting practices.

Aligned with the ILO's mandate to promote tripartism, this initiative will equip trade unions to shape labour policies and actively advocate for decent work opportunities.
