What will I learn?
  • Familiarize with the concept of decent work in the rural economy in the changing world of work, in order to adapt it to their own national and local contexts;
  • Attribute the roles of policy makers - including workers’ and employers’ organizations - required for promoting an integrated and inclusive rural development in a building back better perspective;
  • Recognize the importance of considering just transition in the promotion of decent work in the rural economy in the framework of a human-centered recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

How is the course organized?

The course is divided into seven modules:

  • Module 1 - Decent work in the rural economy: a priority agenda;
  • Module 2 - Policies for decent work in the rural economy;
  • Module 3 - A just transition towards a resilient and sustainable rural economy.
  • Module 4 - Advancing towards gender equality and women’s empowerment in rural areas
  • Module 5 - Youth in the rural economy: Boosting action towards decent jobs for youth in agri-food systems and rural economies
  • Module 6 - Social Protection for Rural Populations
  • Module 7 - Reducing poverty and advancing social justice in rural areas through decent jobs in tourism 

Participants need to take a short Knowledge Assessment Test before and after completing the seven modules. The Certificate of Participation will automatically unlock once the Knowledge Assessment Tests and all the seven modules are completed.
