At ACTRAV, we see workers’ learning as a force for collective empowerment. This resource is built on a simple idea: when one person learns, many can benefit—if we design learning to be shared, adapted, and carried forward.
You don’t need to be a “formal trainer” to make that happen. If you support members, organise activities, facilitate discussions, or help others grow their confidence and skills, you are already a multiplier.

This self-guided resource is for anyone involved in strengthening workers’ education and union capacity, including:

• Trade union leaders and elected representatives
• Educators, organisers, and facilitators (formal or informal)
• Policy advisers and technical staff supporting member development
• Activists and members who share knowledge in their workplace or community

You will learn how to:

• Facilitate learning that is participatory, empowering, and rooted in union values
• Use peer learning and collective intelligence to deepen understanding and build ownership
• Design inclusive learning spaces that address barriers (language, access, confidence, power dynamics)
• Apply flipped and blended approaches to make live sessions more interactive and action-oriented
• Use microsessions to reinforce learning and spark reflection in everyday union spaces
• Plan learning journeys that support multiplication—before, during, and after a session

By the end of the resource, you’ll be able to:

• Confidently act as a Multiplier (not just a content “deliverer”)
• Run short, high-impact microsessions in formal and informal settings
• Design adaptable learning activities that others can reuse and localise
• Create conditions where participants practise, reflect, and grow into multipliers themselves
• Strengthen a multiplier culture in your union through simple follow-up systems and peer support

The resource is modular and flexible, designed for self-paced use and easy adaptation. It includes two main parts:

• Part 1: Keys to Facilitate – Methods, Mindsets & Microsessions
  Foundations of workers’ education, facilitation approaches, core methodologies (peer learning, inclusion, flipped classroom), and practical microsession formats.
• Part 2: Multiplying is What Matters
  How to design learning processes for multiplication: building flow, adaptability, teach-backs, practice, ethics and inclusion, and sustaining learning beyond the session.

You’ll also find ready-made microsessions, practical examples, and a glossary of key terms to support shared language across contexts.
