Organizing and Bargaining in the Digital Economy in Asia Pacific
When algorithms become the boss, workers are at the losing end! Across the Asia Pacific, platform work and AI are restructuring labour markets faster than regulation can adapt, placing opaque systems, not humans, in control of pay, performance and access to work. The result is predictable: unstable income, excessive hours and almost no meaningful avenues for redress. How shall we transform these technology‑driven governance challenges into actionable union strategies?
Across two weeks online and a five‑day intensive lab, participants will tackle real cases to secure bargaining rights in AI‑mediated workplaces, demand transparency in algorithmic management and extend social protection to digitalised and vulnerable workers. Drawing on regional insights, the course will strengthen skills in digital organising, bargaining simulations, inter‑union cooperation and data literacy, equipping unions to negotiate stronger clauses and shape rapidly evolving labour‑market policies with confidence.
