The course offers a systemic management approach, emphasizing practical concepts and skills essential for preparing vocational training centres to face the challenges of the future of work. It aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of managing these centres effectively.
As part of the ITCILO's Skills Development portfolio, this training course aims to build the necessary capacities worldwide to support the implementation of TVET programs and skills development initiatives.

- Political decision makers and technical advisors of Ministries working in the field of skills development;
- Members of sectoral management teams and national TVET authorities;
- Representatives of workers and employers' organizations involved in providing vocational training services;
- Experts and technical staff at CSOs, NGOs and other civil society stakeholders working in the field of skills development and TVET;
- Donor representatives funding TVET projects and programmes;
- Private sector representatives involved in skills development partnerships.
What?
This course is designed to develop your holistic understanding of managing vocational training centres, with sessions on:
- Strategic management of vocational training centres
- Responsiveness of vocational training centres to labour market demand
- Public-private partnerships (PPP) and the relationship between vocational training centres and industry
- Financial sustainability of vocational training centres: autonomy and self-financing
What will I learn?
By the end of the programme, you will have enhanced your technical knowledge to improve the functioning of vocational training centres. Specifically, you will have:
- Increased your understanding of management concepts by examining the management of vocational training centres from a quality-based perspective
- Examined the management challenges related to vocational training centres
- Developed an in-depth understanding of the role of vocational training centres in skills development, the assessment and recognition of skills, and the transition from school to work
What will I be able to do?
You will be connected to an international network of skills development professionals. You will enhance your ability to analyse and manage vocational training centres by:
- Correctly identifying bottlenecks and challenges at the centres
- Recognizing the key factors that enable centres to respond to labour market demands
- Drawing strategic development plans for vocational training centres
- Strengthening the economic model of the centres by assessing the services and products that can be provided to the labour market
Why should I register?
During the distant learning phase, the course focuses on understanding the conceptual framework of managing vocational training centres.
In the subsequent face-to-face phase, participants apply theoretical knowledge gained earlier to develop practical management skills. They engage in collaboration and discussions with experts during in-person sessions and through planned group work activities.
