The Turin Centre promotes respect for fundamental principles and rights at work through its training courses on freedom of association and the effective recognition to the right to collective bargain, the effective abolition of child labour, the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation; and the right to a safe and healthy working environment.
160 million children are in child labour, millions of workers are trapped in modern slavery, there is a persistent gender pay gap, lack of freedom of association, and thousands of work-related deaths and illnesses each year.
These situations require our immediate attention. Recognizing that labour rights are human rights emphasizes the importance of integrating them into economic and legal policy frameworks. This integration is critical to reducing inequalities and fostering an environment that supports more equitable and inclusive economic development, aligning with the 2030 Agenda's commitment to leaving no one behind.
