An innovative online training tool to promote a healthy and safe workplace
A safe and healthy working environment is essential to protecting workers' lives, health, and well-being. Effective occupational safety and health (OSH) practices help prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, strengthen organizational resilience, and support productive, sustainable enterprises and inclusive growth. In June 2022, the International Labour Conference recognized a safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work. This landmark decision underscores the shared interest and responsibility of governments, employers and workers to promote and realize safe and healthy workplaces. The self-learning course on Essentials in Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) responds to this need through an interactive online learning experience. It provides engaging OSH modules for organizations and individuals seeking to strengthen their understanding of the foundations of safety and health at work. At the end of the course, participants can test their knowledge and obtain the ITCILO Certificate of Participation.
EOSH is designed for anyone wishing to strengthen their knowledge of occupational safety and health. It is particularly relevant for: - Managers, supervisors and technical staff responsible for OSH within enterprises; - OSH supervisors and advisers; - Staff of ministries and other public institutions; - Anyone involved in promoting safe and healthy workplaces. Where the EOSH programme is available through an employers' and business membership organization certified by the ITCILO to deliver the EOSH training service, participants will be directed to that organization.
The EOSH training package is a suite of 29 modules covering a selection of themes and topics that promote a general culture of health and safety at work, as well as specific risks and issues. It includes:
The 29 modules are offered in an engaging and interactive online format, where users can have a dynamic learning experience, with online activities, videos, and additional resources.
Eye-catching infographics present the content and material with a cutting-edge approach, while memory aids & animations make the learning process fresh and playful.
The EOSH package is designed to be used from computers, tablets and mobile phones and is always accessible, even with low bandwidth connections.
The EOSH package is offered at a competitive price that facilitates access to the training and promotes best practices for a healthy and safe workplace.
Participants taking the EOSH training will be able to access the full set of 29 Modules until the end of the year. Once the modules are completed, they will take a final exam.
Participants that pass the exam, will get the Certificate of Participation of the ITCILO, internationally recognized as a certificate of the UN Agency specialized in occupational safety and health.
Participants will be able to consolidate their knowledge of OSH issues related to risk assessment, management of prevention, managing health crises and COVID-19.
They will also be able to deepen their understanding of specific OSH themes and risks, including electricity, fire and explosions, and other modules in the package.
Participants will have access to the eCampus online platform with all the 29 training modules available to them.
The training programme is delivered as self-learning, allowing participants to choose when to engage in the platform and choose when to take the modules, according to their availability.
No assignment is required throughout the training programme, except for the completion of the modules.
The online programme is delivered in English.
You can start the EOSH course whenever you want, as it will be open until 15 December 2026.
The course has an estimated duration of 60 hours of study, and the recommended number of weeks to complete the training is 9 weeks. However, you can choose the timeline that works for you: ultimately you are in charge!
When all the modules are completed, participants will be able to take the final exam.
The final exam is composed of multiple-choice questions based on the content of the 29 Modules.
To pass the exam, the required mark is 60%. Only successful participants that meet the passing grade of the exam will be able to get the ITCILO Certificate of Participation.
