The Global Forum is an annual event that opens a dialogue among key actors in the maritime industry, focusing on key aspects related to the implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, as amended. The event provides an international forum where all stakeholders can discuss recent updates, technical issues and main challenges faced by the maritime sector, with a specific focus on the impact on decent working conditions and the quality of shipping. It offers an interactive platform for sharing knowledge, experiences and good practices, facilitated by international experts. The programme is designed to actively engage participants in discussions on critical aspects of MLC, 2006 implementation at national and international levels, allowing them to step back from daily professional routines and reflect on emerging trends and challenges in the maritime working environment.
The Forum is designed for: Seafarers' and shipowners' representatives; officials from Ministries of Labour, Ministries of Transport and other relevant maritime competent and regulatory authorities; maritime inspectors; ships' officers and ship operators; as well as officials from UN agencies and EU institutions responsible for maritime-related programmes.
