Restructuring the Campus

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the City of Turin have agreed to allocate funds to maintain and renovate part of the premises of the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin. The Ministry’s contribution will be as much as three million euro, while the Centre will allocate up to 800,000 euro from its dedicated fund for this purpose.

With these funds, the Centre intends to refurbish two of its 19 pavilions, dealing with the most urgent health & safety issues and creating a modern "Learning Lab", with open and modular spaces, suitable for the Centre’s new educational needs. Indeed, to stimulate innovation and learning across the board, the Centre aims to promote the adoption of new approaches, such as design thinking and lean/flexible methods, in the development of its products and services. It also wants to open up a creative space for both staff and participants to prototype innovative learning solutions and embark on experimental learning journeys. This Lab will also be made available to City officials and other local institutions wishing to organize their own training courses.

On top of this, the City will contribute 180,000 euro per annum, initially for three years, to the costs of the extraordinary maintenance of the whole campus.

The Centre hosts 300 officials and each year welcomes 4,000 people from all over the world,  who come to Turin to attend training activities on ILO and UN values.

“We are honoured and very grateful to receive these contributions and would like to thank our partners. The ILO, the United Nations and the City have an agenda that looks to 2030. With that date in mind, it is important to catalyze not only the contributions, but also our visions for the future," said Mr. Yanguo Liu, Director of the ITCILO.
