About 170 permanent staff members come from more than 35 countries. Staff members are experts in their respective fields, including capacity building, employment, and development.

The Centre’s official languages are English, Italian, French, and Spanish. Additional working languages include Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, and Russian.

General service staff provide administrative, secretarial, and operational support, as well as technical assistance. Responsibilities become more complex at higher levels.

Minimum requirements are:

  • Residency in Italy

  • Secondary education diploma or equivalent

  • Mastery of one official language and proficiency in a second official or working language

Professional and higher categories staff are experts in fields such as law, education, economics, finance, administration, and information technology. View all areas of expertise here. 

Minimum requirements are:

  • Advanced university degree

  • Mastery of English and proficiency in a second official or working language

The recruitment process includes rigorous assessments and panel interviews.

Temporary and short-term staff usually replace staff that take prolonged leaves of absence. They may work for a maximum of one year. Applicants remain on the roster for two years. Admission to the roster does not guarantee a contract. Contract renewal is not guaranteed.

  • Residency in Italy

External collaborators provide expertise, skills, or knowledge in advisory or consultative capacities. Applicants remain on the roster for two years. Admission to the roster does not guarantee a contract.

Interns are current university students or recent graduates pursuing a career in subjects related to the ILO’s mandate and the Centre’s activities. The internship programme provides a practical learning opportunity in an international environment. All interns are remunerated.
