The ITCILO supports sustainable enterprises and economies by promoting responsible business practices that advance decent work and inclusive growth. Guided by the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles for Multinational enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration), our work places international labour standards and social justice at the core of business sustainability, recognizing the roles of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations in creating an enabling environment for Responsible Business Conduct (RBC).

Our programmes strengthen the labour dimension of Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), supporting governments, multinational enterprises, employers’ and workers’ organizations, and practitioners in identifying, preventing, mitigating, and remedying labour-related impacts across operations and global supply chains. We translate global RBC standards into practical tools human rights due diligence processes, including meaningful stakeholder engagement, impact tracking, grievance mechanisms and remediation.

The Centre works closely with UN agencies, governments, multinational enterprises, international and regional organizations, and social partners to promote sustainable supply chains, responsible investment, and effective labour governance.

Our courses focus, among others, on labour-related HRDD, sustainable foreign direct investment (FDI) and its contribution to more and better jobs, policy coherence for RBC, social auditing practices, and the realization of fundamental principles and rights at work in supply chains.

Upon request, the ITCILO delivers tailored capacity development activities — both online and face-to-face — and develops training materials on business and decent work.
