OVERVIEW

At a time when gender equality is under pressure and inequalities are widening, the need for skilled and experienced gender advocates has never been greater. The Gender Academy 2025 offers a timely and vital space for reflection, learning, and transformation—bringing together professionals from around the world to tackle the pressing challenges threatening progress and help shape a more inclusive and equitable world of work. Over the course of two weeks, participants will engage in expert-led sessions, peer exchange, and hands-on learning designed to spark fresh ideas and support meaningful, lasting change.

WHAT

🔸 Plenary Sessions

Plenary sessions will explore the key issues shaping gender equality in the world of work today. Through bold ideas, expert insights, and global dialogue, these sessions will address topics such as:

  • Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value: Closing the Gender Pay Gap
  • The care economy and Decent Work
  • Violence and harassment in the world of work
  • AI at Work: Advancing Gender Equality and Addressing Bias
  • Climate Action and a Gender-Just Transition
  • The Future of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the World of Work
  • Engaging Men to Reshape Masculinities

🔹 Thematic Tracks & Electives

Participants will tailor their learning path by selecting two electives, choosing either:

  • One thematic track across two weeks (deep specialization), or
  • Two electives from different tracks (broader perspective)

Each track addresses interconnected dimensions of gender equality in the world of work. Courses are grounded in real-world practice, providing both strategic insights and practical tools.

Gain the practical skills to turn commitment into action through gender-responsive training and institutional mainstreaming strategies.

Go beyond policy to transform workplace culture. Address inequality, tackle violence and harassment, and promote fairness and dignity for all.

Explore how technological disruption and climate action intersect with gender equality and learn how to respond effectively.

Uncover hidden structures that undervalue care and women’s work. From unpaid labour to pay gaps, this track offers solutions for lasting change.

WHO 

The Gender Academy welcomes a diverse and global community of professionals committed to advancing gender equality, inclusion, and social justice in the world of work. Participants typically include: 

  • Government officials working on gender, labour, social protection, and development policies 
  • Representatives of workers’ and employers’ organizations  
  • Staff from UN agencies and international organizations, including multilateral development banks 
  • Private sector actors promoting diversity, equal opportunity, and responsible business practices 
  • Researchers and academics focused on gender, work, and inclusive development 
  • Civil society organizations advancing rights-based and community-led approaches 
  • Independent consultants and professionals engaged in gender equality, DEI, and organizational change initiatives 
WHERE

The Academy takes place on the ITCILO campus in Turin, Italy, nestled in a park along the Po River. This UN hub—shared with the UN System Staff College and UNICRI—offers a vibrant international learning environment where participants from around the world connect, learn, and collaborate. 

CERTIFICATION 

Upon successful completion of all required course activities, participants will receive an official ITCILO Certificate of Achievement. This certificate may also count as a credited component toward the ITCILO Gender Diploma Programme, for those pursuing the full certification pathway.

Funding

A limited number of partial fellowships are available for worthy candidates from countries ODA receiving countries (Official Development Assistance). Consult the updated recipients’ list here.
